The last couple of weeks have been busy and we have finally been able to go out and check the cameras again. The bucks are doing extremely well and are growing super fast right now.

So far we are very happy with both the Bushnell TrophyCam HD Aggressors and Reconyx Ultrafire cameras. They both have superb quality of photo and video. If you are in need of new cameras or any other sporting goods, Denny Dennis Sporting Goods in St. Louis is our spot of choice. Tell him Oak Creek sent you.

Oak Creek Monster Buck Tracker 9-23

23kIt has been a great week at Oak Creek. Our hunters are tagging incredible bucks and we are seeing more bucks than ever on the cams now.

The temperatures have been extremely high for late September, but the deer are still moving in early morning and late evening. We had a couple of days that the heat index has been in the high 90’s and low 100’s. The weather is supposed to cool off this weekend and should have 70’s next week.

One good thing about this hot, wet weather the Hunter’s Specialties Vita Rack Clover is really green and lush right now and the deer are really using it.

We caught some on them on trail cam. It made for some very cool photos. Several big typical and non-typical bucks showed themselves and we added a couple more to the hitlist for the year.

Oak Creek Monster Buck Tracker 9-15-16

The season has begun and the monster bucks have really started moving now that they most are done shedding their velvet. We are getting more shots of them out of sanctuary areas.

pict5209We also finally caught a shot of a big palmated buck on the cams this week. We had seen him a couple of times this summer but had never seen him on the cams.

PICT5070.jpgIf you are looking for drop tines, this buck would make your dreams come true. He has two on the right side and one on the left, plus good width and tine length.

The weather this summer has been perfect for growing huge racks. There has been enough rain to keep the food plots growing good all summer and the heat has not been too high, with only a couple of days near 100 degrees.

The Hunter’s Specialties Vita Rack Clover has been knee high and lush green all summer. It has kept the deer looking slick all summer long. To show the effectiveness of the food plots this summer, in this last set of photos the cameras averaged over 1000 shots in a three day period.

An addition to the Monster Buck Tracker this week is one of the Monster Bulls on the Ranch. We are estimating him at over 370″, with a unique non-typical point at his base.

Hunter’s Specialties Vita Rack Clover

Screen Shot 2016-06-13 at 1.15.26 PMPerfect for spring or fall planting, Vita-Rack® Velvet™ Whitetail Clover has superior palatability (sweeter tasting) and produces tons of forage per acre. It’s blended with Velvet-brand Ladino Clover, White Clover, Alsike Clover, PGI33 Red Clover, Medium Red Clover, and Crimson Clover. Velvet Clover grows extremely tall and spreads well for a thicker food plot.

Plus, Vita-Rack® Velvet pumps up to 150 pounds of nitrogen per acre back into the soil, making cost-saving crop rotation possible. The 2.5-pound bag covers a quarter acre and the 10-pound bag covers a full acre.

Great Food = Great Deer

Here at Oak Creek Whitetail Ranch, we manage our deer to the fullest extent possible. We give them every advantage we can to help them reach their full potential.

IMG_0392.jpgOne of our main contributions is our Hunter’s Specialties Vita Rack Clover. It is packed with everything the monster bucks and does that produce those monsters need to thrive.

We have already mowed it once this season and it is again boot top high and a dark lush green color. It starts early also here in the Missouri Ozarks, giving the bucks what they need to get that early boost after the winter.

During the afternoons, you can often spot nice bucks in the shade, just off the plots. These four bucks we spotted Monday were doing just that.

Yesterday we went out again and we were not disappointed. We saw a young buck that is going to really be something in a couple of years by the looks of the width he is already sporting. He was with the doe pictured.

On the way back to the lodge we caught a glimpse of movement and circled around to find this giant laying in the shade at the edge of the plot. A great way to finish up the day and this blog.
